Description: Spoleto is an ancient Roman city in the Italian
province of Perugia in east central Umbria on a foothill of the
Apennines. Spoleto is a very interesting town. The
cathedral is beautiful and the imposing castle on the top provides breathtaking views.
It has medieval features
with churches and palazzos, mainly in Romanesque and Renaissance
style. Rich in monuments, celebrated by poets and writers
such as Stendhal, Goethe, Hesse and many more. It has been inhabited since
the prehistoric age,
then became Etruscan and Roman. It had a period of splendor and
growth during the Middle Ages.
