Location: Umbria
Description: Panicale is a tiny village of Umbria, located
between Città della Pieve and Perugia (33 km). It is a characteristic
hamlet dominating the Lake Trasimeno from a rocky spur 431 m high. The
town center still preserves the look of the ancient medieval castle with
walls and two gates, the first one opens towards Florence and the second
one towards Perugia. Panicale offers its visitors natural and historical
beauties.
Sights and Attractions: San Michele is a collegiate church
dating from the 11th Century and preserves the "Annunciation of the
Virgin" a fresco by Masolino and the "Adoration of the Sheperds, an
altarpiece by a Perugino's follower • Palazzo del Podestà: 14th Century

Sbarra: (frescos) • San Sebastiano: The Church houses the "Martyrdom of
San Sebastiano" a splendid fresco by Perugino and and a detached fresco

remains of frescos • On the road towards Tavernelle is the Sanctuary of
Madonna di Mongiovino with beautiful carved portals and miraculous
venerated image of the Madonna and many art works in the interior • Church of San Silvestro

The Church conserves an image depicting the Virgin and Child
between Saints Sebastian and Rocco painted on canvas in 1495 by
Gregorio Gregori called the Teuton.
