 Description:
Castiglione del Lago is an agricultural- commercial town and resort
on the shore of Lake Trasimeno located in a flat pleasant landscape rich in
olive trees. It preserves the remains of ancient Roman walls and a well
preserved castle.
Sights and Attractions: The Castello del Leone
-(the Fortress of Lion) wich was built by Emperor Frederick II in 1247 and
is a pentagonal-shaped castle with square towers and a triangular ramparts •
The Palazzo del Comune (Town Hall) built by Ascanio della Corgna in
Renaissance style and designed by the famous Italian architect Vignola.
