Description:
Assisi is a simple and peaceful town rich in religious heritage,
situated in green Umbria on the slopes of Monte Subasio, stretching
longitudinally from south-west to north-east. Assisi represents and
ensemble of masterpiece of human creative genius and a unique
example of continuity of a city sanctuary within its environmental
setting from its Umbrian-Roman and medieval origins to the present
represented in the cultural landscape and traditional land use.
Assisi is a fabulous town for wandering and exploring, it is famous
for its churches any where you look in you shall find a fine church
built in pink stones defining the town’s apperance containing fine
art works. The double-decker church is another attraction in Assisi
built to honor the humble saint who lies in the crypt. The upper one
has been damaged by the earthquake, but has been restored and now it
still can be admired for its colorful frescoes. The small little
museum is another attraction in Assisi that can be explored. Other
famous places to visit are the Basilica of St. Francis, Piazza del
Comune, The Duomo, Rocca Maggiore, The Basilica of Sainte Clare and
the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels.
