City: Sinalunga (Siena) - Pop. 12500 - Alt 364: m a.s.l.
- Location: Tuscany
Description:
Sinalunga origins date back to Etruscan times. The town lies on the
slopes of a hill and enjoys a nice view. It is ideally located
between the major cities in central Italy, Florence and Rome to the
north and south, and Perugia and Siena to the east and west. Train
service connects the town to major lines at Siena, Arezzo and Chiusi.
The small town preserves many ancient features and art works even if
because of its strategic location was invaded and damaged many
times. Sinalunga offers all you imagine when you think of the
Tuscan countryside. Rolling hills, highlighted with patches of
cypress tress, stretch to the west. A broad valley, with
wheat-fields, farm houses and vineyards stretches across to the east
of the town, till it reaches Cortona and the large Lago Trasimeno.
Florence, Siena, Arezzo and Perugia offer you an intimate look at
the birth of Renaissance art.
