Description:
Sarteano is a town of historic and naturalistic importance, located
on a plateau between two valley, the Val d'Orcia and the Valdichiana.
Sarteano, thanks to its very ancient origins is very rich in
archeological remains. Of note is that in the area are preserved
some of the most important tombs of Tuscany. The last find is the
tomb of "Quadriga infernale", (4th century b.c.),
with well preserved paintings and beautiful scenes of Etruscan life. Sarteano had also a great medieval past and the castle and many
churches still survive. The relatively mild climate and proximity to
cities such as Siena, Perugia, Arezzo, Sarteano make a good
destination at any time of year.
