This castle in 1151 it belonged to Count Poltonieri di Forteguerra,
then to the Ardengheschi family and to the most powerful Sienese
families
The old defensive structures around the village which grew up
alongside the castle have almost completely disappeared, except for
one large tower. the castle however is well preserved and consists
of two parts, the older, with the characteristic of a fortress, the
other with the appearance of an urban palazzo, with single light and
mullioned windows with Gothic arches.
