Description: Gradoli is a lovely medieval town on the slopes
of the hills Volsini, which crown the north shore of Lake Bolsena,
on the border of Tuscany and Umbria, halfway
between Rome and Siena. The town lies on a tufa spur 470 m above sea level and 43 km away from Viterbo.
Sights and Attractions: The imposing Palazzo Farnese (16th
century).
The construction of the Palace, which began in 1515, was entrusted
by Cardinal Alessandro Farnese (future Pope Paul III) to Antonio da Sangallo the
Younger • The Church of the Magdalene, with Baroque facade and
three-nave interior in which retains a marble baptismal font and a
sixteenth-century fresco, which depicts the Madonna and Child. Next there is also
a small but interesting museum of sacred art • 7 km from Gradoli,
on the shore of the lake, is the 15th century Church of San Magno
Museums:
Inside the Palazzo Farnese, after the recent restoration, hosts the
Historical Archive with a valuable collection of books, a small museum of
ceramics and medieval costumes.
Events: "Lunch of Purgatory", the Ash Wednesday (day of
Lent). It signed a compromise between Carnival and Lent, on the pretext of help
blessed souls in Purgatory, in the shed of the main Winery, prepares lunch for a
thousand of people, which dates back to 16th century with the same menu
and wine

weekend of August, Aleatico Tasting wine with food stands, local products and
music.
