Bagnoregio: Porta Albana (gate)Description: Agricultural town dominating the nearby valley. Bagnoregio has Renaissance features. It has Etruscan origins, then was Roman settlement and later Papal fortress. Bagnoregio is located about 90 km northwest of Rome and about 26 km north of Viterbo.

Sights and Attractions: Church of St. Agostino with nice architecture and paintings • The "Porta Albana" (16th century stone gate) • Civita di Bagnoregio (the dying town), a medieval small village lying on a tufa rocky spur that owing to the erosion has abandoned by people and now it counts only 15 inhabitants. It is reachable by means of a foot-bridge connected with Bagnoregio. (must see) • Palazzo Comunale • The Cathedral • The monument dedicated to San Bonaventura da Bognoregio

Events:  Good Friday: Historical-religious procession, in costume, of the passion of Jesus, through the narrow streets of Bagnoregio and Civita.

- May: Walking through the Calanchi (gullies)

- 1^ Sunday of June - Palio della Tonna Characteristic donkey race taking place in the central piazza of Civita di Bagnoregio. The race takes the name to the round shape of the course.

Civita di Bagnoregio, the dying town- July 15: - San Bonaventura: celebrations to honor Bagnoregio's patron Saint. Religious procession at night and fireworks.

- August: - Civit'Arte: Review of text and music of international standard.

- San Ildebrando: celebrations to honor Saint Ildebrando with fair, spectacles and fireworks.

- 2nd Sunday of September: Palio della Tonna,  characteristic donkey race taking place in the central piazza of Civita di Bagnoregio. The race takes the name to the round shape of the course. (it takes place twice a year)

December: - Live Christmas re-enactment, in Civita di Bagnoregio, on Dec 26, Jan 1 and Jan 6 at 5 p.m.
